Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan or two 8-inch round pans.
- In a large bowl, combine cherry chip cake mix, eggs, oil, and water.
- Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan(s).
- Bake 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter. Mix just until combined to keep the cake or cookies soft and tender.
- Enhance cherry flavor by adding ¼ teaspoon cherry extract if you prefer a stronger taste.
- Frosting matters. Vanilla, chocolate, or cream cheese frosting pairs best with cherry chip cake mix.
- Check doneness early. Cherry chip cakes can appear lightly golden before fully baked. Always test with a toothpick.
- Storage: Store baked desserts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
